Information and Educational Technology (IET) is optimizing and unifying campus email and collaboration services at UC Davis with a robust offering including new email options and cloud-based storage and collaboration tools.

The new services fall into two broad categories:

Email, calendar and collaboration. IET is introducing Office 365 (from Microsoft) and DavisMail (from Google) as the campus email and collaboration services for faculty and staff. The good news is that both options will be centrally funded which means there will be no charge to campus departments. 

Online storage. These services are intended to help faculty, staff and students create, edit, store and share materials without the hassle of USB drives or email attachments, and working from mobile devices, a PC or a Mac, from anywhere in the connected world. 

Although taking slightly different approaches, both the Davis Campus and the Health System are working closely on transitioning to new email systems. The Health System is retiring Lotus Notes and migrating to the same Office 365 service being offered to the Davis Campus.


Microsoft has launched a new portal, The Office 365 Roadmap, based on customer feedback requesting information about recent and planned updates and a future roadmap for Office 365.
